Hi! My name is Madison and I am a somatic psychotherapist, researcher, and poet here in Gainesville, FL.
I am also a normal human who does a better job of talking and moving than of sitting still. I do actually rest sometimes, like when I go to the springs here in North Florida or am reading a book.
I work with anxious people because I deeply understand and care about them. I have a personal history of anxiety and all of the healing required to work with its gravitational force. It has led to a personal and professional passion for braiding together the most updated neuroscience with the somatic and poetic experience of the individual.
I believe deeply in care and mutual support. This is a political matter to me, and it is a topic that I welcome conversation and questions around.
My formal education and somatic trainings are listed below, but the most foundational ones have been Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and generative somatics. I feel very lucky to have many mentors and teachers in this field to whom I owe my hope in this work to.
For my fellow academic nerds: I am currently studying the existing research on embodied cognition and poetry as an innately somatic practice. I love to work with fellow poets.
